Okay, think about this now. Sometimes, when we end conversations, we say things like, “Take it easy” or “Have a good day”. Of course, the natural response to that is “You too!”
But what happens when it doesn’t apply?
Example: Say you’re at a gym.
Receptionist: Have a good workout. You: You too.
And then, naturally, you feel like an idiot because, after all, the receptionist isn’t working out any time soon, is he?
What about those folks that work in retail?:
Customer: Don’t work too hard. Cashier: You too.
You feel like an idiot! Right? How about at a fast food drive through?:
Drive-through clerk: Drive safely! You: You too!
Or even at the movies:
Movie Clerk: Enjoy your movie! You: You too.

You too. HAH.
I find this to be a funny occurrence because, after all, it does make us all feel like idiots, doesn’t it? It’s such a natural response, that we don’t even realize we’re saying it until it’s said. And then, we feel completely dumb.
I’ve done this many times, and I still can’t shake the feeling that I know I’m going to do it again as I write this post.
Tips to avoid this type of problem? Watch what you’re saying, I suppose. That’s the only way!

I hate it when I do that! Also saying something like “have a good night!” at like 10am — as though you’re hoping that they have a dreadful forenoon.
I only hate it when I’m the one saying ‘you too’. If your the person hearing it, it’s just amusing.
hey!! Good one! This is hilarious, next time I’ll think twice before saying ‘you too’ =D
